Helmdon is Highly Commended!

The results from the 2019 ACRE Northamptonshire Village Awards have been revealed and although Glapthorn won the prize for Best Small Village this year, Helmdon received a rare Highly Commended with the judges commenting:

"We met many members of the village of varying ages and there was a real feeling of community. They all wanted to tell us about their village and the wide spread of clubs, groups etc., something for everyone. There is a very active Parish Council giving grants to village organisations and excellent environmental projects. The church is very much part of the village and is well used as a community building (the lovely Stitchers Kneelers project accepted by a national organisation). The social housing is now in the hands of the Parish Council. One resident said that 'living in Helmdon is like living in a story book'. A lovely village with many interesting clubs."

Thank you to everyone who helped with our entry this year - the certificate will be displayed in the Reading Room.
