A second defibrillator for Helmdon – could you provide the location on the Wappenham Road?

The Parish Council would like to install a second defibrillator in the village to ensure that all residents can access this life saving device if needed. The school has already kindly provided the village with access to their defibrillator but the emergency services will only deploy a defibrillator if the incident is within 500m of the cabinet – this range spans from the top of Station Road to just before the first main bend on the Wappenham Road, before Jenners Piece (see the blue shaded area in the image).

The ideal location for a second defibrillator is in the area near the top of Field Way and Cross Lane - siting a defibrillator in this area would provide cover the almost the entire village. As there are no Council or public buildings in that area we are looking for a resident who is happy to have the defibrillator positioned on their outside wall – somewhere with easy public access. The defibrillator cabinet needs to be connected to a mains supply (it would use approx. £10.00 of electricity per year which the Council would reimburse) and the Council would organise for any electrical work to be carried out. The defibrillator and cabinet would remain the property of the Parish Council and we would be responsible for ensuring that it is checked, maintained and insured. If you think you could help please contact the Clerk.
