Creative competitions ahead of tomorrow's Bonfire Night celebrations!

Children of Helmdon Primary School and Helmdon Acorns have been preparing for tomorrow's bonfire night and learning about how the 5th of November all started.

Pupils of Helmdon school were then set the task of building their very own Guy Fawkes which will appear on the bonfire tomorrow evening. Paul and Robert Duncombe from Helmdon Parish Council were asked to judge the guys for a winner. It was a tough decision as so much effort and thought had been put into the creative project. The winning place was the Neptune house. Well done to all involved.

The preschool children at Helmdon Acorns have too been busy! They were each set the task of fund-raising with smarties tubes. Each pupil was set the challenge of filling a smarties tube with 20 pence pieces, and once complete turn the tube into a rocket. The pupils did really well and raised over £80. There were many fantastic rocket designs, and Robert headed down to judge them. Well done to all the preschool children involved.

We look forward to seeing the school Guys go up in flames tomorrow and the preschool rockets will be on display at the Acorns.
