Musical Evening - posted 08 July 2017
I'd like to thank all those who helped to make the Musical Evening a great success. A special thanks to the Astwell Benefice Church Choir and David the choirmaster and pianist. It was wonderful to have some of our young people showing us what musical talent we have in Helmdon. A big 'Thank You' to Miranda, Harvey, George, Alex, Meredith and Victoria for playing their instruments for us. Also thank you to all the people who supported the event.
We received £157.20 in donations and we have made this up to £200 to send to our charity Special Relief which is able to send help wherever it is needed anywhere in the world.

After a service in the cathedral those who knew Michael when he was a boy, were taken back to his house for a drink.

The Musical evening showed a variety of local talent. The musicians should be thanked, as should the ladies who provided the tempting finger buffet, all of whom gave their services for free. As a result, £200 was raised to be sent to the Mothers' Union Special Relief Fund.

A well attended and much enjoyed coffee morning was held at Manor Barn, the home of Louise Stothard on Friday 26 April.
The event raised £226. It was in aid of their Wheels appeal. Money raised will go towards travel grants for Mothers' Union Community Development Co-ordinators who travel great distances to access isolated families and communities to offer training and advice.
Many thanks to all who supported the Mothers' Union on this occasion.
