Women's Club / Helmdon Together - History
The Women's Club was founded in 1970 as Helmdon Young Wives and Mothers' club by Elizabeth Humphrey, who was its first chairperson, with Mrs Jock Humphrey as president and Maud Pert as vice-president. It changed its name in 1992 to be known as Helmdon Women's Club, continuing with a very active membership for further 30 years.
"A friendly and relaxed atmosphere is created at all Women's Club meetings, with members not just from Helmdon but from other nearby villages. The 'young at heart spirit' is often reinforced wine and numerous giggles, although competitive rivalry always appears at the quiz evening."
In October 2022, Helmdon Women's Club announced a change in name and focus, to be more inclusive going forward. Helmdon Women's Club is therefore now known as Helmdon Together.
