Some residents in Helmdon will feel alone during this time whether due to self-isolation or because they fall into a higher risk category. Helmdon Parish Council would like to help during this time.

We have volunteer help available. You may need assistance such as help with groceries, collecting medicines or other errands such as walking your dog, a chat on the phone or just help with your bins. If you need help, or you know of anyone else who needs help, please contact the Parish Clerk

Our volunteers cannot help with services that should be done by professionals or care services and are not able to go into your home. They also cannot take cash out using a card or provide childcare. Please be wary of people calling at the door who you are not expecting, or people offering to sell you groceries, provide virus testing or asking for entrance into your house. If you have any concerns about a visitor please contact the Parish Clerk.

South Northants Food and Education Alliance (SNFAE) have been working with local supermarkets and Brackley Town Council to set up an emergency community larder for South Northants. Once a week, Helmdon Parish Council will receive a number of boxes containing packaged goods, fruit and vegetables to distribute to residents who are experiencing difficulties getting food, perhaps because they cannot leave their homes to shop, are ill or self-isolating or are having financial difficulties due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The boxes are free of charge and the aim of the service is that these boxes are primarily for those residents who are not currently supported by family/friends/neighbours. We don't yet know details of the contents but have been told that they will contain 10 x essential cupboard items and 5 x fresh fruit and veg – contents may vary from week to week. We are unlikely to be able to request specific items to be included in future boxes.

If you would like to receive one of these boxes or know of someone in the Parish who might benefit from one, please contact the Parish Clerk (email or telephone). You will not be asked to provide any personal details other than your name, telephone number and address for delivery - all enquiries will be treated confidentially.

Obviously not everyone in the village is online and it's difficult get the news out to every home at the moment - please try to spread the word and let your friends and neighbours know about this scheme.

We are looking for volunteers from the village who are willing and able to offer support and assistance by obtaining and delivering various necessities, collecting prescriptions, "just to chat" phone calls, walking dogs etc. To register your interest, please send your contact details to the Parish Clerk.
