Results from 120 responses to the survey of views on the existing village facilities have now been summarised. Please click on the 'document link' below to download/view.

Since 90% of respondents thought that the possibility of a new village hall and sports facilities should be looked into, the Parish Council will be considering how to take this forward at their meeting on 28 November.

We want Helmdon to be a good place to live and a supportive community. Community facilities which cater for all ages and a wide variety of interests are part of what is needed to make that happen. In order to understand what people think about our existing facilities and the possibility of developing new ones, a Parish Information Day was held in the Reading Room on Saturday. More than 90 residents attended to hear about the new village web site and about the idea of developing a site near the school for a new sports field and village hall. In all, 9 in 10 of those who came to the Reading Room thought this possibility should be looked into. If you were not able to come to the Reading Room but you would still like to have your views taken into account you can complete this online survey https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/DXC2FM2 .

There is no detailed proposal yet, the object is to test support for the idea and see what sorts of facilities people would like to see. The presentation that was played at the event https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqJZQTHyZ5E&feature=youtu.be shows what other villages have done and gives some idea of what might be involved. The Parish Council will consider all the responses to the survey and decide on the next steps as soon as possible.
