Helmdon Presents: Children's Films

A New Season of Children's Films - posted 27 September 2018

We show a variety of children's films in the Reading Room, usually on a Sunday afternoon during the winter months. The event starts with an optional activity related to the film (games, craft, etc.) then the children can relax on a beanbag with a drink and a snack and enjoy the film!

Why children's films? The idea is to allow children and young people to experience the joy of cinema in the village by giving them the opportunity to watch films in a friendly setting, socialise with their friends and take part in an activity related to the film. We also feel that it is important to show a wide variety of films not currently on offer in local cinemas (such as Japanese animation, independent films, etc.), making sure these film showings are accessible to all.

Children's film events are £2 per child and free for adults. This includes a drink & snack for children and a hot drink for grown ups. Dates for the 2018/2019 season are:

  • 2.30pm Sunday 18 November (see details below)
  • 2.30pm Sunday 13 January
  • 2.30pm Sunday 10 March

We look forward to seeing you there and please tell your friends about it too!

Family film event at Helmdon Reading Room, 2.30pm Sunday 18 November 2018

The first children's film of the winter season will be Kubo and the Two Strings (PG), an amazing animation in which a young boy named Kubo must locate a magical suit of armour worn by his late father in order to defeat a vengeful spirit from the past.

As always, there will be an activity before the film (this time some games involving string!) and snacks for the children during the film. At only £2 per child (adults are free and get a hot drink) it's the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon in November!
